During the 1930s through the early 1960s, National Studios, a photographic firm situated in the heart of the Times Square area of New
York City, photographed prize fighters, wrestlers and entertainment celebrities in their studios. There was a constant parade of the famous to
National Studios. The likes of Sugar Ray, Marciano, Dempsey, Joe Louis, Jake LaMotta, Jersey Joe, Braddock, Gavalin, Pep, Saddler, Zivic and Jack
Sharkey to name a few. They rubbed shoulders with Jack Benny, Betty Grable, Fred Allen, Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Perry Como, Jackie
Gleason, Abbott & Costello, Roy Rogers, James Cagney and many, many others.
National Studios was also the photographer of the New York Rangers. They sold sports photos through publications such as the National Police Gazette
until the mid-1940s when National Sports Photos, Inc., was formed. The first firm to be in the mail order sports photo business. The product line
was expanded to include all sports with negatives of over 5,000 athletes. In the early 1960s National Studios grew to specialize in television
graphics, gave up its studio and phased out the sports photo business. The negatives lay unused for 30 years.
Now, with the nationwide interest in sports memorabilia, a demand has arisen for genuine sports photos of earlier years. These unique photos -
out of circulation for thirty years - are now being offered to collectors. Genuine 8 x 10 black and white and color photographs of the legends of
baseball, football, basketball, hockey, boxing, wrestling, track & field, horse racing, tennis, golf and much more.
